Person-Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy

I value greatly the uniqueness of each person in relation to their life story.
I enable personal growth through the power of compassion with humanistic understanding ...

Welcome to all,
I'm Shaun, a fully qualified Person-Centred Therapist and a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) based at Colchester Therapy and The Turner Centre. I have over three decades of experience of working within various therapeutic environments including The Priory Group, CAMHS and Essex County Council.
I recognise that taking the step to seek therapy is significant, so be assured that I will strive to make it easy for you by providing you with a comfortable, laid back and completely non judgemental environment.
Being a person-centred therapist to me means being authentic is essential. This honest way of being I believe demonstrates and encourages acceptance and permission for people to become a more authentic version of themselves too. You can expect me to be relaxed, open minded and candidly direct. I offer genuine warmth and kind sensitivity. In session I aim to find the right level of intensity to suit each individuals personality, and I can work creatively if needed too.
I am naturally inclusive by nature and I proudly welcome all individuals, including members of the LGBTQ+ Community, and I also embrace Sex-Positive acceptance.
Through engaging in therapy with me you can expect to eventually carry a much lighter load in life as you gain fresh and true understanding to old beliefs. Together, we will collaborate on an explorative and enlightening journey towards healing, true self-discovery, and valuable growth.
I will also bring to our work an awareness of the interconnectedness of mind and body (as in the nervous system) because it is impossible to separate the two and the effect they have on each other. This understanding is crucially important so that people can develop more effective coping strategies for managing their physical and emotional responses in life. Over time this knowledge eventually becomes second nature as clients begin to embody their experience of therapy.
Now, let us make the next steps towards a healthier and more authentic you.......
